Poemetry: Not By Our Words

By the blade, the tongue is spurred,

and the right man staggers.

Slipped between the ribs arced,

the lungs and breath must yield.

Let us be not by our words

but by our actions marked:

words are the liar’s dagger,

actions the hero’s shield.
