Poemetry: To Be a Star

Oh to be a star,

to slash the night with melancholy light

with friends dotting the sky from afar

but vacuous black from nearby.

Oh to be a star,

to be seen and noticed and known

and cut in the sky a silver scar

claiming that dark as my own.

Oh to be a star,

to sear the worlds with explosive shine

and in my death, a memory alar,

remembered, unmeasured by time.

Oh to be a star…
