Poemetry: Screams in the Night

Bursts of breath freeze in the air.

No answer, no echo.

Shivers curl my toes ’round the stair.

Silent falls each bellow.

And I hate you and I hate me

and I hate the mute world

and I hate speechless society

and I hate each love-forsaken day

that mocks each bitter bleeding gasp

of oxygen unfurled

that rasps my throat with needled grasp

and chokes my life away.
