Poemetry: Goodbye Stars

Goodbye stars, dawn is come,

with her barren raiment.

I mourn the morning glum

and its golden claimant.

No daydream can afford

hours of heavens lost.

Even Starry Night scored

and, in noon’s blue sky, glossed

would leave my eyes hollow,

void of silver sweven.

Though sorrows follow,

dimmed skies give my sight leaven.

“Wait and hope” is my prayer

in the twilight vespers

that soon shall another hesper

bring stars to sate the air.
